Dr Nkem Onyeador

Consultant Paediatrician – Gastroenterologist

Dr Nkem Onyeador is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist with over 15 years of dedicated experience in diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional conditions in babies, children, and young people. Alongside her private practice, Dr Onyeador has been a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2016 and has served as Clinical Lead for Paediatric Gastroenterology since 2019. Her private clinics are located across South West London and Surrey, where she cares for children and families from the UK and overseas.

Dr Onyeador completed her medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Bristol in 2003, alongside an intercalated BSc in Bioethics. She went on to undertake advanced subspecialty training in paediatric gastroenterology at some of the UK’s most renowned centres, including King’s College Hospital, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Her particular areas of expertise include gastroesophageal reflux disease, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome, and the integration of virtual consultations into paediatric care. She has published widely in these fields.

Nationally, Dr Onyeador plays an active role in shaping the speciality. She is Co-Chair of the College Speciality Advisory Committee (CSAC) at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health,  and sits on the council of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN). She was previously the Education Lead for the South Thames Paediatric Gastroenterology Network, reflecting her strong commitment to training and mentoring future specialists. In 2025, she was granted Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) in recognition of her outstanding contribution to education and training within her field.
